"I used the course to transition out of the classroom as a new mom. It was NOT easy but your materials gave me a plan and helped me feel in control during one of the most challenging years of my life! It helped me hone in on a career path, tune up my resume and prepare for interviews, and encourage me weeknights at midnight when I wanted to give up but had to write another cover letter.

I didn't think I would ever love a job as much as teaching but I love my new role, company and coworkers and feel challenged and excited every single day!

Couldn't have done it without TCC."

"This was a pivotal force behind my transition to educational technology.

I can say that the career coaching helped me plunge into my passion for technology.

I cannot speak to all the great components of this course. The insight really gave me the confidence boost I needed to change careers."

Teacher Career Coach Course FAQs

You deserve to be as confident in our course as we are. So, if you have questions, we’ve got answers! If you have a question not answered below, feel free to reach out at support@teachercareercoach.com.

I’ve spent so much time establishing myself as a teacher. Will I have to start all over again?

Good news! It’s unlikely you need to go back to school to start a new career. The fact that you have any degree already gives you a leg up when applying for positions. Most HR professionals are looking more for experience and less for specific degrees, so you don’t usually need to worry about your degree not being within a particular industry. (Unless you are trying to go into the health field.)

It’s more important that you’re able to showcase how the skills you’ve acquired translate into the skills that make you the most qualified candidate for the position. So be sure to spend time translating your teaching experience over to a new industry and rewriting your resume.

That’s where Module 3 of The Teacher Career Coach Course comes in. I worked with an HR expert to make sure you have accurate and relevant information and resources. I’ve built several “From Classroom To Corporate'' resume writing translations to help you quickly identify what experience you already have in the fields of training, content creation, data analysis, marketing, budgeting, project management, managerial, and more. (Yep, all from teaching!)

Am I really qualified for anything besides teaching?

I remember thinking the same thing when I first considered leaving! It’s still one of the most common questions I get asked, so I’ve established a framework to help walk teachers through determining what jobs are the best fit for them based on their teaching experience and skill sets. For example, if you’re a teacher with less than five years’ experience, you’ll be qualified for different positions than a teacher with 15 years’ experience.

Everyone has different qualifications they’ve established, even within their job duties as a teacher. But you also want to account for experiences from other positions you’ve held or volunteer work you’ve done in your professional life.

That’s why I’ve dedicated Module 2 to walking you through the steps to determine which positions would be the best fit with your qualifications. You’d be surprised how much you can pull from a simple job description!

The bottom line is that you’re already qualified for a variety of positions. And there are a variety of skills you can learn while you’re still in the classroom to beef up your transition resume. For example, some Teacher Career Coach Course graduates have transitioned into roles as Curriculum Writers, Instructional Designers, and Office Managers. (Just to name a few!)

What makes Teacher Career Coach different from other programs?

The Teacher Career Coach Course was designed for teachers by a (former) teacher. I have experience in the fields of education, edTech, instructional design, and business management. Additionally, the majority of the Teacher Career Coach team is made up of former teachers. Those who aren’t are experts in their fields bring invaluable insights to the Teacher Career Coach community and resources.

Furthermore, I consulted with a certified career coach with 10+ years in HR and resume writing experience to develop many of the resources in the course. I paid the high one-on-one fees and put all of the answers in one digital library. In other words, I did the research so you don’t have to.

While other courses may help you create your resume or learn networking tips, this one is made specifically for you, a teacher. Leaving teaching is a uniquely challenging experience, riddled with stigmas, contracts, and stereotypes. The resources are built specifically with you in mind, saving you (a lot of) time when it comes to taking those next steps and landing a new position outside of the classroom.

Will I really have time to juggle this course while I'm full-time in the classroom?

While I can’t answer this for you, what you need to ask yourself is this:

Do you have time to find all of the answers on your own?

I’m willing to bet you’re already facing an ever-growing to-do list and unrealistic expectations. (I’ve been there before, remember?) Finding a new career can seem like a daunting task, and I’d hate for you to let the overwhelm get the best of you.

If you’re ready to leave the classroom, it’s important NOT to fall into old patterns or settle for a life and career you know no longer serves you. Afterall, that’s why I built this course and created every single resource included in your enrollment. I created this so that you DON’T have to scramble to learn it all on your own and guess if you’re doing it right. (Or suffer the consequences if you aren’t.)

What is actually included in my Teacher Career Coach enrollment?

When I left teaching there were little to no resources out there for me, so I wanted to change that for the next generation of teachers leaving the classroom.

You’ll have access to my video modules (25+ lessons total) where I walk you through everything from identifying your new career path and translating your teaching experiences to making mindset shifts, networking, resume writing, salary negotiation, interviews, and more.

The course currently includes over 100 pages of printable templates and resources. (Though my team and I are constantly working on updates and new content to keep the course as relevant and useful as can be.) You’ll find resources covering everything from productivity, planning, and mindset work to job searching, applications, and interviews.

Career-specific resources range from a list of classroom-to-corporate translations to help you rewrite your resume to actual resume and cover letter samples to inspire and guide you as you write your own. I even answer some of the trickier interview questions like how to professionally discuss your decision to leave the classroom, including addressing toxic administration and shifts in politics.

We also have a private community built only for our course members - so you can turn to one another for encouragement and support, and find relief as you find answers to your biggest questions and concerns.

Am I guaranteed a job by the end of this course?

Unfortunately, there’s no one-size-fits-all timeline to a career transition for teachers or anyone! (Trust me. If there was, I’d let you in on the secret.) We've had course members land a new dream role within 2 weeks, and others land one after sending out 100 applications. There’s no guarantee that you’ll land the first job you apply for, with or without the Teacher Career Coach Course. There are so many outside factors beyond anyone's control, so we can't make any promises there.

What I can tell you is this: This course will help you pinpoint any common mistakes that might be standing in your way of landing a role in your desired industry. It also covers when and why you might want to consider a “for now” career as you build your way to your ideal position or company. And when you do find that right career, it’ll all be worth it. You can count on the Teacher Career Coach Course community to celebrate with you when that happens.

In the meantime, know that you have lifetime access to this course and it’s materials. You can return to the materials and video modules again and again, throughout this career transition or the next! There are members who return to Module 4 every time they want to brush up their resume.

In other words, there’s no guarantee you’ll land position X with company Y making a salary of Z. But I can tell you that if you’re committed to showing up and doing the work, you won’t regret it when you finally get that “Yes” you’ve been after. (And all it takes is one “Yes.”)

Do you offer one-on-one consultations or support with resume writing?

The vast majority of our course members use our resources to DIY the entire process, but as former teachers we know everyone learns differently! Some people want a more personal component/coaching in addition to this course. If that sounds like you, we offer career clarity calls, interview coaching, and resume reviews from career experts on our team for an additional fee. These services are currently only available for Teacher Career Coach Course members.

How long do I have access to this course?

You'll have access to the video modules and downloadable resources for the lifetime of the course, so you can take your time and revisit the course as needed. We will give 90 days notice if we ever need to shut down the private community so you have time to find answers and connect with others.

You don't have to navigate a career change on your own. Get support immediately when you sign up.
