Here's What That Means

There are many different jobs that you are qualified for in this category because you already have experience training learners, organizing material, and managing projects. You may start looking for a job that allows you to teach adults and break down complex information for various learning types as a Corporate Trainer or Learning and Development Specialist. Your experience in leading committees, planning events, and keeping your class on a learning schedule has prepared you for Project Manager and Office Manager roles.

Focus on roles that are in-person (and not remote) so you don't have to learn a lot of new technology skills. Companies will love your ability to multitask and stay organized in the face of adversity.

The options are endless in how you can add value to corporate companies with the skills you gained as a teacher!

Example Careers You Can Pursue Include Within This Career Bucket

Corporate Trainer

A corporate trainer specializes in increasing a company’s productivity by continuing training and development for employees. The experience of a teacher would work well with teaching employees new skills to best serve them in the workplace and benefit the company. This involves leading seminars, lectures and team exercises to keep all employees updated on any new goals and procedures in the company

Project Manager

A project manager is solely responsible for overseeing and planning projects to be sure they are completed within the time allotted and within the specific budget. Teachers have the experience needed to plan out projects and complete them in a timely fashion, which aligns with the role as a project manager. This position also involves planning and designating resources, creating budgets, monitoring the current progress of projects, as well as keeping those involved informed on the status of the project.

Learning and Development Specialist

A learning and development specialist works to create, administer and deliver training programs for businesses and organizations. This involves assessing what an organization needs, and creating custom training programs taking place in a training facility or classroom. Companies would look for the experience teachers have creating curriculum and customizing it to a child’s needs for a learning and development specialist position.

Office Manager

An office manager ensures that an office runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis, much like running a successful classroom. They may also manage a team of administrative or support staff that also maintain the success of the office. An office manager may be in charge of running meetings on current office practices, maintaining communication systems, and any other day-to-day responsibilities.

Editor

An editor is responsible for ensuring that a company’s written materials are quality and accurate. The key duties of an editor involve editing copy and finding ways to improve it, educating writers on the best practices, identifying ways to improve the process of materials, and giving writers any other needed advice on content. The familiarity with editing and grading work from students makes teachers a great option for an editor position!

Why is it difficult to transition from teaching?

One of the most prominent misconceptions teachers have is that they aren't qualified for other positions without going back to school. I created this quiz to help you identify "soft pivots" or career buckets that are smoother transitions using the transferable skills that you already have. In my years outside of the classroom, I've worked with former teachers in many other industries, CEOs from companies, and HR Experts. Take it from me, this list is just a modest sample of the opportunities out there for former teachers.

One of the reasons teachers find it challenging to leave teaching is because they never made a Plan B. Teaching was supposed to be a forever career, but what happens if you need to move on? My mission is to help open your eyes to many possibilities NOW to help prepare you in advance, so you don't have to make a rushed transition from teaching (like I did).

I created the Career Transition Guide for Teachers to be your Plan B exit-strategy starting point. I don't want you to have excuses to talk yourself out of having this in your back pocket just in case, so I've even dropped its cost to the ultra-affordable price of $9. Yes, the cost of knowing your available opportunities is the same as your favorite latte.

You don't HAVE to do this alone.

I left the classroom due to a toxic work environment and severe burnout for a career in educational consulting and instructional design. After having no resources to support my own transition, I vowed to create the community to help others facing the same difficult decision. To date, over 20,000 like-minded educators have explored opportunities and supported one another through the process.

There's so much value inside this resource!

What did other teachers have to say about the Career Transition for Teachers Guide?

Jessica - 3rd Grade Teacher

This guide gave me so much confidence in myself and opened my eyes to new possibilities! I felt that I could clearly organize my resume and continue the career search and learn to market my skills in new ways. Thank you, Daphne!

Hey There, I'm Daphne!

There's a reason you took the Quiz...

Whether it was another teacher's recommendation, searching "other jobs for teachers," or pure chance that brought you, I'm SO happy you found me.

I was in your shoes before. Back when I was contemplating my transition out of the classroom, there were virtually no resources to support me. Eventually, I landed positions I loved in educational consulting and instructional design and started my own business.

My mission is to build the community and support that I wish I had years ago and to help you be successful.

Whether you're looking to start a transition out of teaching or curious about building a profitable side-hustle, I'm going to be your go-to gal.
